The Porterbrook Network is a developing initiative aimed at contributing to a wider church planting movement by equipping individuals and churches to rediscover mission as their DNA through training, resourcing and consultancy.

 

Why is it all about mission?

  • Because mission is about God transforming lives and bringing them under the kingship of Jesus
  • Because mission is the task to which God has both called and equipped his people
  • Because mission starts in our hearts and does not end until it reaches the ends of the earth

Where is it?

There are Porterbrook Training Centres at present in Sheffield, England, and Cape Town, South Africa. There are a number of new venues in Australia, Canada and the US. See contact details below for more information.

Who runs it?

Steve Timmis has primary responsibility for the Porterbrook Distance Learning programme. He is the founder of The Crowded House, a church planting network where he is currently an elder. He was previously the founding Director of Radstock Ministries and is now Director of Western Europe for Acts 29.

Tim Chester has primary responsibility for Northern Training Institute. He has many years experience in church planting and is currently an elder in The Crowded House Network. He was previously Research and Policy Director for Tearfund, tutor in missiology at Cliff College and lecturer with Northern Training.

Steve and Tim have co-authored a number of books including Total Church (IVP and Crossway).
